I just added a Movie directory in Indexing Options and works fine. If I have to use it for a specific location then I open that location in File Explorer and use the search box at the top of File Explorer to drill I am looking for a file (windows.old) ---- cortana doesn't find it and doesn't give me the option to look in "my stuff" - only searches on the internet. Don't worry, turning off the indexing service will do no harm to your computer.

When I look for the files that I was trying to find by manually going through my directories and subdirectories, I find the files that Windows Explorer said were NOT there! In addition, I add hundreds of pictures a week to that folder, so the indexing never would stop. He suggested there might be an update to change this but it is not possible at the moment. Anyways now I'm looking for a specific file. You can turn on a feature to search file contents as well as on file name, but I so seldom use that feature that I resort to Windows search for that. My experience is that Microsoft instructions almost never work.
